Law Firm Website Marketing

How Important Is Law Firm WebSite Marketing?

Lawyer Website Design

Your law firm website is not merely your initial contact with your potential clients. In most cases, it’s the only contact. It’s amazing to me that the single most important marketing asset your law firm has—it’s website—is oftentimes the most overlooked aspect of the company. The truth is, your website is the most important marketing tool you have. Your web converys everything about you, from your contact data, attorney bios, client testimonials, media material, and a contact form on every major page. So why do so many law firms overlook this central focal point in their attorney internet marketing campaign?

Law Firm Website Marketing: Your Site Might Be Telling a Sad Tale

If your saying to yourself right now that your website doesn’t tell your whole story, let me assure you that you’re wrong. Everything about your web site is being conveyed to the surfers. And for the great majority of law firms out there, the story is woefully incomplete.

Your website must include everything a potential client needs to go from an introduction to your company to requesting a consultation. (You do have a form for them to request a consultation on all your pages don’t you?) It must entice the client, entertain them, impress them, instill confidence, establish your firm’s credentials, and—most importantly—get them to take action. If it doesn’t, you can be sure that you are sending a great many clients to your competitors who know how important the internet marketing is.

Law Firm Website Marketing: Keeping the Client Stream Flowing

Start by taking an honest look at your own firm’s web site. Ask yourself the tough questions. Assess your site as though you were a client and not a lawyer. Does the site education you, does it pique your interest? Does it establish credibility and trust? Above all, does it speak directly to the problem that the potential client is seeking? And does it offer a way that your firm can give a clear and immediate solution to that problem? If the answer to these questions is no, immediate action should be taken to rectify the situation. Consumers are far more sophisticated now, and they demand a great deal from the web sites they visit. The question is: are they finding it on your law firm’s site, or on the site of your competition?

Other things to consider about Law Firm Website Marketing:

  • Address the specific problems your web viewers are experiencing.
  • Establish yourself as a respected authority on dealing with their situation
  • Use multi-media throughout the site to appeal to a wide range of potential clients
